Tree Removal with Bee Hive in Stevensville, MD
July 31, 2024
In Stevensville, MD, our client had a hollow tree in front of his property that was potentially dangerous for those passing by. He was unaware that this tree also contained a beehive. After securing a permit for the tree removal and the removal of two others leaning towards his home, we initiated the project. With Rob's background as a beekeeper and our family's passion for gardening, we were eager to undertake this task with the goal of preserving the bees. The tree was carefully cut down just above and below the beehive. We waited until dusk, when the bees had returned from foraging, before we proceeded to move the stump that held the hive. After safely securing it in the back of our truck, we transported the hive to our backyard. We are pleased to share that the hive is thriving in its new environment, surrounded by ample flowers and bushes for foraging. The bees are remarkably calm, with Rob only experiencing a single sting. Harvesting and reusing wood from the trees we remove is always rewarding, but it is even more gratifying when we can save a beehive in the process. Truly a wonderful experience!
